Rock & Runways’ : Meet the bands gracing the stage this Adelaide Fashion Week for Fashion x Frequency.

Fashion x Frequency brings a fresh world of alternate fashion and art to Adelaide Fashion Week 2026. Local brands share the runway with live performances from a lineup of high energy vintage-inspired rock acts.

It feels natural to fuse rock and runway, they simply go hand in hand. My forever favourite runway, Dolce & Gabbana’s 1995 F/W collection was presented amidst the air of tracks by Australian rock icon’s INXS which elevated the effortless sensuality already in the designs. FXF is not only integrating rock, but also celebrating electronic music from emerging DJ talents CRYSTAL, ENHE, and hyper pop princess MFG.

But who are the bands’ and how do they fit into this fashion frenzy?

The Dainty Morsels

Opening the show, The Dainty Morsels are a femme-led ‘cursed rock’ quartet. They released their first album ‘The Curse of the Dainty Morsels’ in 2023 and have put out three new releases this year, advancing their craft in countless exciting ways. Their music presents a liberating and modern twang on all the best parts of vintage. Their sound is jangly, dreamy and dramatic. It also incorporates a faint feminine rage fuming beneath their airy and ethereal sound.

And they don’t just sound dreamy, they look the part too. Each member takes the stage in authentic vintage pieces curated to suit their individual personality, and the results are difficult to surpass.

When asked what drives them to make music, lead singer Emily stated, “We are just people who like making things.” That creative energy runs “from music to various forms of visual art, through to making limoncello and various cables and things like that!

Ammonite

Ammonite are a femme-led four-piece who embody the spirit of 90s third-wave feminist rock, born out of frustration with the injustices of male-centric rock culture.

Since debuting in August 2024, they have become a formidable force, inspiring young people to let it all out through art. Their punchy lyricism and powerful presence pair perfectly with their grungy yet feminine attire. The first time I saw Ammonite, lead singer Angie was rockin’ garter stockings and a military style jacket, and I couldn’t help but think, “that’s one bad bitch right there!”

Angie suggested, “It is our emotional outlet, how we have fun, and what we live for.” She added, “We [make music] to connect with the community that we have found and created with Ammonite, and because we love songwriting,” and of course, “putting on a killer show!”

The Sundials

Since we’re on the topic of high energy and commanding stage presence, I can’t think of another act in Adelaide doing it more enthusiastically than The Sundials. Their self-described ‘flare-pant-party-rock’ truly sums up their sound, fashion and energy. Each member rocks their own version of a distinctly 70s silhouette, which when combined creates a coherent coolness.

Their love of creativity also extends to many forms of artistic expression. They believe “outside of the box thinking is …very important.” They told us they “hand make physical snail mail as [their]  mailing list, [and are being featured in a] foreign rhythm video game.”

Lead singer Dieter also mentioned they are passionate about “sharing a live performance that leaves people feeling like they were involved.” He elaborated: “[Some] shows… feel sterile and disconnected from the audience, like … watching TV… a gig should be a positive transformative experience!”

The Sundials released their debut album in 2024 and have put out two new singles this year (one of them a double single!) Their fervour and groove are dangerously contagious, as their spirit is genuine and free. Everything you love about classic 70s rock exists right here in our state, and it has to be seen to be believed.

If you want to party with Adelaide’s emerging rock talent and be a part of our alternate fashion universe also featuring other incredible electronic musical acts and three curated runways, be sure to secure your tickets now for the 7th October.
