If you haven’t heard of Suki Studio or Three Fates yet, consider this your sign.

The two Adelaide-based businesses recently joined forces to host their ‘Swap Social,’ a perfect opportunity for anyone looking to clean out their wardrobe whilst finding new pieces to cherish in the process.

Suki Studio, based in Adelaide’s south, is the kind of space the local creative scene quietly depends on. A co-working hub and event space rolled into one, they’re committed to supporting small businesses and freelancers. On their jam-packed monthly schedule you can find everything from crochet classes to pottery workshops, all held within their charming storefront, just as this most recent clothing swap was.

The format is simple in the best way. Before the event, attendees drop off five to seven items they’d like to part with. On the night, those items become tokens, redeemable for something new from a pool of over 100 pre-curated garments - a mix of what fellow attendees donated and a generous contribution from the hosts. The space does the rest; warm lighting and pink curtains that make everything look a little more considered, thoughtfully scattered lace accents, and a complimentary glass of fizz in hand as you browse.

Then comes the mending station. A communal corner stocked with all the scrap fabric, buttons, ribbons and trims you could possibly ever need to revamp those pieces in your closet that just need a little more love. Nothing about this feels like an event in the typical sense; it simply feels like exactly where you should be on a cozy Saturday night.

Behind many of the unique garments up for grabs are Adelaide vintage resale brand, Three Fates. Their philosophy is put best by the brand themselves:

"At Three Fates, we celebrate all the lives that our clothes have experienced and those that are yet to come. Like the Fates of Greek myth, lovers of vintage weave the destinies of our clothes and give them life."

Their consciously handpicked and curated pieces are available for purchase throughout the year at Summertown Studio, as well as at the upcoming XCHANGE Markets.

For those who’ve missed out on this one; trust me, you’ll want to be first in line for the next.
